SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (June 24, 2020) - Music Expo, the conference series for music makers, presented in association with Sound On Sound and Sound:Check Magazine announces program highlights for “Music Expo Desde Casa,” the organization's first-ever two-day online conference offered in Spanish. Music Expo Desde Casa will feature 15+ award-winning producers, engineers, artists, industry tastemakers and leading technology brands. All will come together virtually for two full days of programming that will include techniques for recording acoustic ensembles, a production masterclass, Flamenco mixing techniques, panel discussions about the Latin music business and more. Music Expo Desde Casa will consist of live video sessions broadcast via Zoom. Participants will receive an email the morning of each day with instructions to access the event. Programming is subject to change.
Program highlights include;
Mixing Master Class with Multiple Grammy-winning Recording/Mixing Engineer Gabriel Castañón - The intermediate process of a musical production is mixing; taking place between recording and mastering a track. Learn how to make a correct balance during this process using Pro Tools as an operating platform and understand how to prepare a session for an optimal workflow. We will review EQ, compression, and the correct use of effects.
Techniques and Recording for Acoustic Ensembles - Music Producer/Recording Engineer and President of AES Mexico Valeria Palomino will demonstrate a variety of recording techniques and applications for piano, choirs and acoustic ensembles. Palomino has participated in more than 70 albums with some of the most important orchestras and ensembles in Mexico.
Production Masterclass with Ali Stone - Colombian producer, multi-instrumentalist, singer/songwriter, and DJ Ali Stone has composed music for movie soundtracks, has remixed top artists, performed at festivals including the Electric Daisy Carnival and was an opening act for Justin Bieber’s Purpose World Tour. Stone will discuss music production ‘in the box’ going through midi programming, the use of effects and audio processing to create a song from your DAW. Modern Creative Process - Latin Grammy-winning Producer/Composer and Engineer Guillo Lefeld and Grammy-nominated Producer and Recording/Mixing Engineer James Joubran team up with singer/ songwriter Christian Pagéan to analyze every step in Christian's release: voicenotes, demo, songwriting session, production, mixing and mastering.
"Flamenco" Mixing Techniques - Latin Grammy Award-winning Sound Producer and Engineer Salomé Limon (Andrés Calamaro, Paco de Lucía, John Legend) will demonstrate her approach to recording flamenco and include her pre-production process, the most common instruments, and techniques and steps of recording, editing and mixing.
From Demo to Finished Song: The Process of Building a Pop Song - Latin Grammy-nominated Mixer/Engineer and Producer Emiliano Caballero (Bon Jovi, Foy Vance, Elle King) will walk through the process of building a Pop Song from demo phase to finished product. With this talk, they will share tips, advice and examples of how to better understand the music business in various areas. This session is presented by SoundGirls Mexico.
5 Ways to Improve Your Mix Masterclass - Multiple Grammy-winning Studio and Live Sound Engineer Enrico De Paoli (Ray Charles, Aaron Neville, Alexander O’Neal) will discuss five solutions to improve any mix.*Enrico De Paoli’s session will be offered in Portuguese.
