SET FOR RELEASE ON AUGUST 18TH

“Onoleigh is a born performer…her connection with her audience is genuine, soulful, and authentic. Then there’s that knock your socks off, big-time voice of hers that she delivers with emotional energy and range. She’s got it all.” - John Oates of Hall & Oates.

“Working with Onoleigh has been amazing, she’s continually honing her craft between the writing and delivery of her songs, and I’m excited for the world to hear.” - David Dorn, Producer

“Onoleigh’s voice is something all its own... I heard something so unique, but still familiar the very first time I heard her sing.” - Brandon Hood, Producer

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (July 21, 2023) - Singer-songwriter Onoleigh is announcing new single “Why Can’t We Dance,” set for release on August 18th. “Why Can’t We Dance” was co-written by Onoleigh and Jonathan Wyndham, and produced by 4X ACM Award nominee David Dorn. The fierce, up-tempo song is a roaring dance-floor anthem about embracing the rush of a feel-good time over wanting to be in love. “Why Can’t We Dance” follows Onoleigh’s previously-released songs “Beautifully Broken” co-written with Brandon Hood, and “Make It Hurt,” the latter written by Maren Morris, Rhett Akins and Chris DeStefano.

“So many songs revolve around the concept of someone completing you, so when we wrote this song, it was important to me to share a different perspective, one where you’re able to go out and have a great time without any long term expectations for love,” said Onoleigh.

Onoleigh teased her new single “Why Can’t We Dance” on Instagram earlier today (HERE), adding, “It’s a summer anthem about not wanting to be in love. We have some amazing elements that come with this song including a music video that we’re shooting this week.”

Onoleigh has collaborated with some of the biggest names in music including co-writing songs with John Oates (Hall & Oates), Nathan Chapman (Taylor Swift) and working with Producer Brandon Hood (Sam Hunt, Rascal Flatts, Hannah Dasher).

With a remarkable ability to harness compassion and empathy as a result of her previous experience in social work as a guidance counselor, Onoleigh’s songwriting has reached listeners on a powerful personal level with songs that are relatable and lean into what others are feeling. Since her debut release “Ghost Stories,” which garnered over 20,000 streams across platforms in less than a month, her songs have been featured by CMT, Music Row, Taste Of Country, and more. Most recently, her song “Sunshine & Lemonade” co-written with Oates, was included in the soundtrack for the movie “Gringa,” which was released earlier this year.

The rising singer-songwriter was raised in Mahomet, IL and made the move to Nashville to pursue her career in music. She frequently performs in notable venues including The Bluebird Cafe, Ole Red, the Bobby Hotel, and she has a standing residency at the Virgin Hotel. Onoleigh has opened for artists including Jordan Davis, Tyler Rich, Joe Nichols, Rodney Atkins, and she is set to share the stage with Chris Janson this summer.
