FAIRCHILD 660 and 670 EMULATION

This Meticulously Crafted Recreation Emulates Country Singer Martina McBride’s Personal Fairchild 660 Capturing One Of The Most Iconic Pieces of Audio Equipment in Recording History

The rich tone when inserting it in the path is so satisfying. The mid/side is so enriching that it will make a regular piano come to life in the mix, or turn a flat kick into a beast.”
-  Jean-Marie Horvat, 5X GRAMMY-winning Mixer/Producer/Engineer

"This definitely captures the tone and character of the original unit.”
- Joe Chiccarelli, GRAMMY-winning Engineer

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Aug. 15, 2024) - KIT Plugins and Blackbird Studio are releasing BB F66/67, the studio’s first-ever Fairchild compressor emulation today. Not just any emulation, KIT’s BB F66/67 is modeled after Country Singer Martina McBride’s personal Fairchild 660, used exclusively in Martina’s vocal chain, the sacred rack of gear meticulously curated and fiercely protected at the studio. Creators will now have access to the same smooth, musical compression that Martina relies on for her intricate arrangements and powerful vocal performances. KIT’s BB F66/67 is available today and will be sold as a set starting at $99 with a limited intro sale of $69, here: https://www.kitplugins.com/products/bb-f66-67.

Selected from John McBride’s exceptional and personal collection of vintage gear for use in Martina’s personal chain, McBride hand-tuned and manipulated the frequency response himself, BB F66 captures every characteristic and detail. The BB F67 has the same legendary 660 sound with the addition of a 670’s mid/side processing and individual stereo controls, providing more flexibility and creative possibilities.

"The Fairchild 660 has always been my go-to for Martina's vocals because it delivers that unmistakable warmth and musicality that you just can't find anywhere else. It's not just about compression—it's about capturing the emotion and depth in a way that resonates with the listener. The 660's unique harmonic character is what makes it irreplaceable in her vocal chain. The F66 gives me that same feel whenever I need it," shared John McBride.

The Fairchild 660 and 670, designed in the 1950s, are famed for their tube-based design providing smooth compression and unique time-constant settings, offering a warm and harmonically rich sound that few modern compressors can replicate. The BB F66/67 is KIT Plugins’ first analog modeled compressor.

KIT PLUGINS AND BLACKBIRD STUDIO COLLABORATE TO BRING THE SOUND OF AN ICONIC API LEGACY CONSOLE TO DAWS WITH THE RELEASE OFTHE BB A5 CHANNEL STRIP PLUG-IN

KIT’S BB A5 IS MODELED AFTER TWO HIGHLY-SOUGHT OUT API LEGACY CONSOLES IN BLACKBIRD STUDIO B AND D

BB A5 FEATURES THE SOUND OF THE API 212L PREAMP AND CHARACTERISTICS OF THREE COVETED EQ’S FROM THE CONSOLES KNOWN FOR COUNTLESS CHART-TOPPING RECORDS

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Aug. 28, 2023) - KIT Plugins and Blackbird Studio are bringing the sound of an iconic API Legacy console to DAWs everywhere with the release of BB A5, the channel strip plug-in modeled after two highly-sought out consoles in Blackbird Studio B and D. The API Legacy consoles are known as some of the best-sounding consoles to be used in a commercial studio and for countless chart-topping records. Delivered with sonic precision, the BB A5 captures the tone of the 212L preamp and characteristics from three of the most coveted API EQ’s including the iconic three-band 550A, the four-band 550L and the proportional Q-based graphic equalizer 560L. Creators can now access the same sounds used on countless hit songs today starting with a limited-time introductory price of $150, by visiting https://kitplugins.com/products/bb-a5.

With careful consideration and a thorough analysis, KIT’s team collaborated closely with Blackbird Studio Owner John McBride to capture the essence of the API 212L saturation, and the nuances of the console’s EQ’s, analog hum and the character of the master buss.

"The API Legacy is a major part of Blackbird. It was important that the BB A5 capture the sound and vibe of the hardware as a whole, not just one of the channels. My first experience with the plug-in was shooting it out with the real thing and I was ecstatic with how close it was. The BB A5 replicates the feel of the desks in Studio B and D beautifully," said John McBride, Owner, Blackbird Studio.

"The BB A5 is the largest project we have taken on yet. It was paramount that we deliver a product that lives up to the sonic reputation of our other products and still capture the feel of the original hardware. My team and I worked tirelessly hand in hand with John and Blackbird for over a year to create this plug-in. I couldn’t be happier with the result as the A5 is already a mainstay in my mixing toolbox,” said Matthew Kleinman, Founder of KIT Plugins.

Already gaining popularity among music creators, producers and audio engineers are welcoming the meticulously crafted emulation lauding;

“The A5 is a very welcome addition to my own mixing. All 3 of the classic eq styles in one plug-in with easy access hi/lo pass filters is a big deal to me. Add the mic pre “weight” to that and you can’t go wrong.”
- Joe Carrell, 11X GRAMMY-nominated Audio Engineer

“I immediately go to the kick and take away a little 500 and add a little 63. I’ve always loved the API Legacy console and this plugin replicates it beautifully. It sounds like I’m in D!”
- Steve Marcantonio, GRAMMY-winning Producer and Recording Engineer

“It’s absolutely gorgeous sounding. The first plugin, in my opinion, to nail the proper API sound.”
-Joseph J. Chudyk, Multi-Platinum Mixer (IDK, Kane Brown, The Band CAMINO)

The BB A5 plug-in will also be added to KIT’s Blackbird Studio Bundle which includes the 7-band BB Mo-Q (used in Martina McBride’s vocal chain), the award-winning BB N105 channel strip plug-in and the BB N73 their recently released 1073 emulation. KIT PLUGINS RELEASES BB N73, THE FIRST 1073 EMULATION FROM BLACKBIRD STUDIO

KIT PLUGINS RELEASES BB N73, THE FIRST 1073 EMULATION FROM WORLD-RENOWNED BLACKBIRD STUDIO

MUSICTECH HAS THE FIRST LOOK (HERE)

KIT PLUGINS FEATURED IN FORBES (HERE) AND NAMED IN MIX MAGAZINE’S 2023 LIST OF PRO AUDIO COMPANIES TO WATCH (HERE)

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (March 8, 2023) - KIT Plugins and legendary Blackbird Studio are releasing BB N73, the first-ever 1073 emulation from the world-renowned studio based in Nashville, Tenn. KIT’s BB N73 is designed to sound and function just like the hardware in use at Blackbird Studio, offering one of the only real-world emulations that includes a separate controllable masterbus, inspired by the master channel from Blackbird’s 8058 console and built to sound and feel like the 1073 master buss amp. MusicTech shared the exclusive first look lauding, “This new emulation is thorough in its creation, combining characteristics taken from no fewer than twelve different 1073s housed at Blackbird, even down to the electrical noise they make.” Read more (HERE).

KIT’s BB N73 follows their award-winning BB N105 and BB Mo-Q. BB N73 is available now for a limited-time introductory price of $75, by visiting, https://kitplugins.com/products/bb-n73. Users that purchased the BB N105 V1 will receive BB N73 free for a year.

The 1073 is one of the most iconic channels in recorded music history and has played a critical role in shaping music’s sound since the 1970s. Popularized for its identifiable analog character and simple eloquent controls, the 1073 is known for its’ fat, warm, colorful tones, and has been used to create some of the greatest chart-topping albums by some of the most-well known artists in history.

Featured by Forbes (HERE) and named in Mix Magazine’s list of pro audio companies to watch in 2023, KIT Plugins has helped countless producers, engineers and creatives enhance their sound with their “revolutionary new software” (American Songwriter).

For the BB N73, KIT’s team of engineers worked closely with Blackbird Studio Owner John McBride and the Blackbird team to capture the best characteristics from twelve vintage 1073 units, in use at Blackbird Studio and hand-selected by McBride. Incorporating McBride’s favorite characteristics, each 1073 was analyzed to ensure every audible detail was accounted for, capturing the essence of all of them, including everything from cables and modifications to age and irregularities.

“Building the BB N73 has been one of our biggest projects yet. With other entries in the space, it needed to be special. As a user of many different 1073 plug-ins, I always found the models to be more reminiscent of a brand new unit than a vintage one, and I wanted to fill that niche with Blackbird Studio. We analyzed every vintage 1073 at Blackbird Studio and selected twelve of the best units. John and I then selected our favorite aspects of each unit so our development team could build what we believe is the perfect vintage style 73 channel,” shared Matt Kleinman, Founder, KIT Plugins.

“Like many, I gravitated towards the 1073 early in my career, for its unique sound, saturation and tonal capabilities. The BB N73 brings everything I love about the original unit to life in your computer, from the legendary preamp and EQ to the iconic big red knob,” he added.

YouTube Influencer David Vignola (Home Recording Made Easy) revealed a full demonstration, view it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DnFjSxAr8mE.

BB N73 KEY FEATURES

  • Console frequency response accurately sampled from 10Hz to 96kHz.

"The Motown EQ is one of the most fascinating pieces of gear I have ever had the pleasure of working with. Aside from its amazing history, the circuit itself is truly unique. It has subtle, broad stroke controls but somehow brings an undeniable level of character to everything you use it on. I knew that the Mo-Q would need to replicate that. We started from the ground up. Using our experience with the BB N105, we expanded on our processes and technology to develop the most accurate EQ model possible. The Mo-Q can truly replicate the tone and feel of the original Motown EQ," said Matt Kleinman, Founder of KIT Plugins.

BB Mo-Q Key Features:

  • A musical, character driven, iconic retro-EQ, with full automation.

  • 7 pre-defined passive frequency bands that provide all the curves needed to sculpt your mixes.

  • A-grade processing, featuring KIT Plugins' Gen 2 Full Range Modeling technology, with oversampling option dedicated to providing professionals and at-home producers/engineers with the purest quality.

  • Over 100 presets curated by accredited industry working engineers.

  • A streamlined control set for ease of use.

Billboard Announces Partnership Exclusively, Read More (HERE)

“I can load an entire session up with this...it sounds amazing...and it sounds like it’s the console.”
- Marc Daniel Nelson, Producer/Mix Engineer (Fleetwood Mac, Jason Mraz, Colbie Caillat)

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (June 22, 2021) - Blackbird Studio and Nashville-based developer of audio tools KIT Plugins (KIT) have teamed up to release the BB N105 plugin, the first-ever channel strip emulation of the rare Neve analog console in Blackbird’s legendary Studio A. The emulation is the only one of its kind, bringing the cleanest and most pure sonic quality and sound of Studio A to modern DAWs. The BB N105 is the second release from Blackbird Studio and KIT Plugins following the Blackbird High Gain Profile Pack for Kemper, and is part of a long-term partnership exclusively announced via Billboard, read more (HERE). Produce Like A Pro revealed the first full demonstration of the BB N105, here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yhkbvMjR3Jw&t=99s. The BB N105 plugin is now available for $99.99 at KIT Plugins here: https://kitplugins.com/products/kit-bb-n105.

The Neve console in Blackbird Studio A is far from ordinary and has been used to record countless albums by some of the most well-known, renowned music artists in the world. Originally built in the ‘70s, the console underwent massive restoration and received a series of modifications from some of the best minds in the audio industry, making it not only unique but one of the best examples of its namesake ever to exist. The engineers at KIT carefully sampled Channel 21, taking into account all of the factors that change the sound, running the signal through the unique Amp of master bus B, and capturing the samples using McBride’s favorite A/D converters.

"The sound of that Neve is special," said McBride in his interview with Billboard. "I've seen this happen numerous times where someone would bring their tracks in, the engineer set it up, the producer walked in and said, 'What'd you do [to get that sound]?' 'Well, I just ran him through the console.' They have their own color."

The BB N105 is quickly capturing the attention of award-winning Producers and Engineers as one of the best audio plugins, saying;

“...completely delivers on replicating what it was going after. The eq is clean and fat at the same time, just like the 8078. The distortion alone on the preamp stage makes this a winner. But the beauty and slight enhancing in the insert quality takes this thing way over the top to be a new favorite of mine.” - Marc Daniel Nelson, Music Producer/Mix Engineer (Fleetwood Mac, Jason Mraz, Colbie Caillat)

"I am replacing every plugin in my mix with this plugin."
- Ron DiSilvestro, award-winning Producer

“The KIT Blackbird BB N105 plugin is, so far, the closest to actual analog I've personally encountered. I'm not sure what KIT and Blackbird have done, but I can't wait to see what's next.” - EverythingRecording.com 5/5 ★★★★★

BB N105 Features:
