LEE DEWYZE RELEASES “DEVIL IN THE DETAILS” MUSIC VIDEO

People.com Exclusively Premieres the
Dark and Evocative Music Video (

Directed By: Sarah Wilson Thacker
Produced By: Lee DeWyze

Named In Rolling Stone’s Songs You Need To Know,
“Devil In The Details” Is From DeWyze’s Forthcoming Album
Gone For Days, Due Out On Sept.13th

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (August 9, 2024) - Songwriter Lee DeWyze is releasing the music video for his single “Devil In The Details” today. Named in Rolling Stone’s Songs You Need To Know, “Devil In The Details” is the first single from DeWyze’s forthcoming album Gone For Days, due out on Sept. 13th. People.com exclusively premiered the music video directed by Sarah Wilson Thacker, view it here: https://people.com/lee-dewyze-devil-in-the-details-music-video-exclusive-8692807.

“For me, the ‘Devil In The Details’ music video really translates the song’s emotion and story into an equally emotional visual experience. With Director Sarah Wilson Thacker’s vision, and Irvin Liu’s cinematography, our collaborative effort brought the piece to life in a way that is both beautiful and somber. This is a video that I feel not only compliments, but amplifies my song’s message. I can’t help but believe that this video will leave the viewer asking some of the very same questions I pose in the song itself,” said DeWyze.

“The song has such a delicate introspection, and I really wanted to craft a visual that spoke to that looking upwards and inwards we all experience this in life. I think that searching for direction in the face of hardship and loss is so universal and it was such a thrill to help realize Lee’s vision for this epic song,” said Director Sarah Wilson Thacker.

Gone For Days is DeWyze’s most personal and introspective album to date and offers an honest reflection of self-exploration with heartfelt lyricism and a stunning sonic portrayal of life’s outcomes expressed with expansive strings, gorgeous melodies and syncopated rhythms. DeWyze surrendered to the creative process, leaving his home in Los Angeles to write and record this album in Bristol, VA. While spending time alone writing the album, the songwriter confronted some of the deepest, darkest places in his own personal life, leading him to explore some of life’s toughest questions.

“I had so many different ideas floating around,” he said. “I spent that first month working out the songs and experimenting with different ideas and approaches.’ I wanted to write a record that I love, a record that I’d want to listen to.’ Looking back at it now, I find myself saying, ‘Wow, that was a surreal two and a half months of my life,’ but so many incredible things came from it on a musical and personal level.”

While in Bristol, DeWyze found comfort by surrounding himself with new and familiar friends in and out of the studio. The collection of new music includes contributions from Grammy-nominated instrumentalists including cellist Dave Eggar, who composed the string arrangements, while guest musicians Barry Bales and Tim Stafford contributed on songs including “Devil In The Details” and “Dandelion”.  Phil Faconti, a Brooklyn native currently living in Bristol, played additional guitar throughout the record, and Blake Collins, a Bristol native played mandolin. DeWyze wrote the songs, played the main acoustic guitars throughout the album, and provided vocals.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Aug. 2nd, 2024) - Singer-songwriter Lee DeWyze announces his cinematic folk album Gone For Days (Mavelle Records), due out on Sept. 13th. Embracing the storytelling aspect of the folk albums that shaped him, and drawing from his Americana influences, DeWyze is letting his voice be heard on this new collection of songs recorded in Bristol, VA. As he delivers his most personal and introspective record to date, he offers an honest reflection of self-exploration with heartfelt lyricism and a stunning sonic portrayal of life’s outcomes expressed with expansive strings, gorgeous melodies, and syncopated rhythms.

DeWyze is sharing the album’s first single "Devil In The Details” today. “Devil In The Details” explores themes of battling inner demons, grief, and wrestling with life's toughest questions, and confidently showcases his craftsmanship as a master storyteller. Listen, here: https://lnk.to/DevilInTheDetails

“Recording this album was a special experience for me. On a personal level, it feels like this is the album I’ve always wanted to make. Even in the studio, everything was very organic and real. It was almost as if the record was alive, and all the pieces were flying in and out, finding their proper places. It was all centered around the songs and what’s best for each one of them, all while telling each song's individual story. It was important to me that you could feel the emotion on this album, and that it sounded that way as well,” said DeWyze.

Gone For Days is DeWyze’s sixth major studio record and follows critically-acclaimed album releases Frames and Oil and Water, both of which topped the iTunes Folk and Singer/Songwriter Chart in addition to Paranoia and Ghost Stories, both of which reached No.1 on the iTunes Alternative and Singer/Songwriter Chart.

The LA resident knew he was going to be in Bristol, VA for some time before he started recording, and he was eager to find inspiration in a new setting. “I had so many different ideas floating around. I spent that first month working out the songs and experimenting with different ideas and approaches. I wanted to write a record that I love, a record that I’d want to listen to,” said DeWyze.

Tapping into local talent in the area, the collection of new music includes contributions from Grammy-nominated instrumentalists including cellist Dave Eggar, who composed the string arrangements, while guest musicians Barry Bales and Tim Stafford contributed on songs including “Devil In The Details” and “Dandelion”.  Phil Faconti, a Brooklyn native currently living in Bristol, played additional guitar throughout the record, and Blake Collins, a Bristol native played mandolin. DeWyze wrote all of the songs, played all of the main acoustic guitars throughout the album, and provided vocals.

DeWyze is currently planning his fall tour, and will take the stage for a special performance during TEDxKC at the Kauffman Center for Performing Arts in Kansas City, MO today. For more information, visit https://leedewyzeofficial.com/.

“Devil in the Details” Lyrics
Written by Lee DeWyze

I’ve been wondering lately, about what I’m doing here
Through all the pills and coffee, I can swear I’m thinking clear
Oh if this is where I’m supposed to be God, you can rest your case
Until I find the answer, I’m a prisoner in this place

Oh my God, Oh my God
What do you have in store for me?
Is it the living or the dying that will someday set me free?
Here I am, here I am, I can bend my knees no more
They say the Devil’s in the details, but I’d swear he’s at my door

I was so much younger, and my father said to me
You have to make your way in life or you’ll end up just like me
So I watched him work away his love and his passion for this place
Oh tell me lord, is that your way, of showing people grace?

Oh my God, Oh my God
What do you have in store for me?
Is it the living or the dying that will someday set me free?
Here I am, here I am, I can bend my knees no more
They say the Devil’s in the details, but I’d swear he’s at my door

Broken gravestones in the churchyard, where the pastor says his prayers
Knowing all too well that someday, he’ll be buried under there
So before I go you all should know I’m prepared to pay my dues
If my debt’s too big for heaven’s gates, I’ll do what I have to do

Oh my God, Oh my God
What do you have in store for me?
Is it the living or the dying that will someday set me free?
Here I am, here I am, I can bend my knees no more
They say the Devil’s in the details, but I’d swear he’s at my door

Oh my God, Oh my God
What do you have in store for me?
Is it the living or the dying that will someday set me free?
Here I am, here I am, I can bend my knees no more
They say the Devil’s in the details, but I’d swear he’s at my door

Oh my God, Oh my God
What do you have in store for me?
Is it the living or the dying that will someday set me free?
Here I am, here I am, I can bend my knees no more
They say the Devil’s in the details, but I’d swear he’s at my door
