Led by singer/songwriter and classically trained multi-instrumentalist Teri Bracken, Winter presents Brontë Fall’s most personal six-song collection to date and was inspired by “Fall, Leaves, Fall” a literary poem by Emily Brontë, from which the artist takes her name. The reflective EP is about finding beauty in life’s cold spells, and explores a deeply vulnerable, dark season for Bracken, making way for a brighter season ahead.

“Winter is about finding the beauty in the wreckage and surviving some very difficult times. Writing this music allowed me to heal from everything that I was going through - a messy breakup, the tornado that ripped through my East Nashville neighborhood, the rollercoaster that is still this pandemic and the ups and downs of my father’s ongoing battle with cancer. I reached for any signs of silver linings and never stopped creating,” said Bracken.

Winter is Brontë Fall’s third studio release and includes six-songs, all written or co-written by Bracken. Unveiling a deep and vulnerable perspective, Bracken's experiences are felt in “Beyond The Rain,” a song about waking up in a world so changed that it might never be reversed. In “Burning Out,” she compares a fading relationship to the fall of a shooting star and “To Be The One,” recalls real-life moments in her relationship when she knew the end was inevitable. She captures an empowering sense of self-redemption in “Every (Damn) Time,” and “Indiana” is a nostalgic retreat to the innocence of childhood.

In an effort to leave a dreary Winter behind, Bracken’s observations on this dark chapter in life ultimately opened the door for a personal reboot, and the optimism is well played out in the EP’s impressive musicality. As a multi-instrumentalist shaped by years of experience studying orchestral music, playing stringed instruments and countless classical sonatas and concertos on the violin, Bracken co-arranged the six tracks on the EP. As a result, Winter offers a wealth of musical atmosphere with bright pop electronica sounds, punchy percussion, synth soundscapes, and intelligent and shortened pop vocal phrasing. It’s a familiar sound - Brontë Fall’s sonic hybrid of pop roots and folk-music influences known from previous works, but with a heightened sense of awareness. Winter was recorded in Nashville and was produced by Jake Finch and includes instrumentalists; Lars Thorson (Electric Guitar), Dylan Jones (Keyboard), Hadley Kennary (Harmony Vocalist).

“When I wrote this song with Isaac, we were in the middle of the pandemic and both going through a lot, and at the same time I was dealing with heartbreak. I was reminded of Emily Brontë’s poem ‘Fall Leaves Fall,’ of which my band name is based after. It involves embracing the darker seasons of our lives and finding the beauty in them. I was inspired by that poem and eager to find the silver linings in everything that I was experiencing. During the process, I wrote about the dark season in my own life, and found both the beauty and irony in all of it,” said Bracken.

The Neve console in Blackbird Studio A is far from ordinary and has been used to record countless albums by some of the most well-known, renowned music artists in the world. Originally built in the ‘70s, the console underwent massive restoration and received a series of modifications from some of the best minds in the audio industry, making it not only unique but one of the best examples of its namesake ever to exist. The engineers at KIT carefully sampled Channel 21, taking into account all of the factors that change the sound, running the signal through the unique Amp of master bus B, and capturing the samples using McBride’s favorite A/D converters.

The Selma Bridge Crossing commemorates the anniversary of Bloody Sunday and the Selma to Montgomery March, an event that prompted Congress to pass the Voting Rights Act. In the past, the event has been attended by three sitting presidents, hundreds of civil rights leaders and thousands of attendees. This is the first time in its history that it will be held virtually.

“The song started out as an idea of mine, said Wriding. I was really frustrated with how some people viewed others they didn’t understand. This idea especially hit close to home for me and for Andrew, because we both have loved ones with autism, and have experienced this misunderstanding first hand. There are so many opportunities in the world to be a light in the darkness, and the more that Andrew and I talked about this, the more we saw the need to inspire more unity and more understanding in the world.”

Plan added, “I saw people I care about, people I respect, wall off their hearts to the experiences and struggles of other people, just because of an opinion or something they heard on the news. When the coronavirus took hold of the world and the divisions among people started to spike, both Kristine and I saw that the need for unity was greater than ever. It’s our hope that releasing this song now, will help create awareness and inspire others to see each other and the world for how beautiful it can be, and to lift each other up.”
