NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Nov. 27, 2023) Singer-songwriter Onoleigh’s new single “Walls,” co-written with John Oates and Nathan Chapman is set for release on Wednesday (11/29). Today, The Bluegrass Situation has the first look at the visualizer video and new single, watch (HERE).

Onoleigh's new music is a journey to self-discovery. Her new single “Walls” takes her back to the room where she grew up. It's nostalgic and vulnerable as she shares memories from her childhood and explores loneliness, growth, and knowing who you are when no one is watching.

“This song is personal for me. It’s about going through the ups and downs throughout childhood and growing up,” she shared with The Bluegrass Situation.

“There were a lot of tough times in my own life where I felt societal or personal pressure to be someone that I wasn’t, and my childhood bedroom was my safe space. It was the place where I could reflect and think about who I was and who I was supposed to become. So, the idea that the walls could hear what I was thinking and could watch me grow up was something that I wanted to write about. I took this to my co-writers John Oates and Nathan Chapman, and we came up with this beautiful song that tells my own personal journey, and I feel like others will be able to relate.”

As a former guidance counselor prior to pursuing her music career, Onoleigh’s remarkable ability to harness compassion and empathy as a result of her experience has reached listeners on a powerful level with songs that are relatable and lean into what others are feeling. Quickly she's attracted fans and listeners with over 300k+ streams of her music on Spotify and a viral TikTok video with over 500K+ views.

“Walls” follows Onoleigh’s previously released songs “Tightrope” co-written with Kenny Foster, “Why Can’t We Dance,” “Beautifully Broken,” “Ghost Stories” and “Make It Hurt,” the latter written by Maren Morris, Rhett Akins, and Chris DeStefano.

Lauded as “an artist to watch” (Music Connection) and “a true musical force making waves in the industry” (Guitar Girl Magazine), the rising singer-songwriter was raised in Mahomet, IL, and made the move to Nashville to pursue her career in music. She recently performed with John Oates at the CMA Theatre and her music has been featured by Entertainment Tonight, CMT, Taste Of Country, Music Row, and more. Her song "Sunshine & Lemonade" co-written with Oates is currently featured in the movie 'Gringa', which was released earlier this year. For more information, visit https://www.onoleigh.com/.

KIT PLUGINS AND BLACKBIRD STUDIO COLLABORATE TO BRING THE SOUND OF AN ICONIC API LEGACY CONSOLE TO DAWS WITH THE RELEASE OFTHE BB A5 CHANNEL STRIP PLUG-IN

KIT’S BB A5 IS MODELED AFTER TWO HIGHLY-SOUGHT OUT API LEGACY CONSOLES IN BLACKBIRD STUDIO B AND D

BB A5 FEATURES THE SOUND OF THE API 212L PREAMP AND CHARACTERISTICS OF THREE COVETED EQ’S FROM THE CONSOLES KNOWN FOR COUNTLESS CHART-TOPPING RECORDS

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Aug. 28, 2023) - KIT Plugins and Blackbird Studio are bringing the sound of an iconic API Legacy console to DAWs everywhere with the release of BB A5, the channel strip plug-in modeled after two highly-sought out consoles in Blackbird Studio B and D. The API Legacy consoles are known as some of the best-sounding consoles to be used in a commercial studio and for countless chart-topping records. Delivered with sonic precision, the BB A5 captures the tone of the 212L preamp and characteristics from three of the most coveted API EQ’s including the iconic three-band 550A, the four-band 550L and the proportional Q-based graphic equalizer 560L. Creators can now access the same sounds used on countless hit songs today starting with a limited-time introductory price of $150, by visiting https://kitplugins.com/products/bb-a5.

With careful consideration and a thorough analysis, KIT’s team collaborated closely with Blackbird Studio Owner John McBride to capture the essence of the API 212L saturation, and the nuances of the console’s EQ’s, analog hum and the character of the master buss.

"The API Legacy is a major part of Blackbird. It was important that the BB A5 capture the sound and vibe of the hardware as a whole, not just one of the channels. My first experience with the plug-in was shooting it out with the real thing and I was ecstatic with how close it was. The BB A5 replicates the feel of the desks in Studio B and D beautifully," said John McBride, Owner, Blackbird Studio.

"The BB A5 is the largest project we have taken on yet. It was paramount that we deliver a product that lives up to the sonic reputation of our other products and still capture the feel of the original hardware. My team and I worked tirelessly hand in hand with John and Blackbird for over a year to create this plug-in. I couldn’t be happier with the result as the A5 is already a mainstay in my mixing toolbox,” said Matthew Kleinman, Founder of KIT Plugins.

Already gaining popularity among music creators, producers and audio engineers are welcoming the meticulously crafted emulation lauding;

“The A5 is a very welcome addition to my own mixing. All 3 of the classic eq styles in one plug-in with easy access hi/lo pass filters is a big deal to me. Add the mic pre “weight” to that and you can’t go wrong.”
- Joe Carrell, 11X GRAMMY-nominated Audio Engineer

“I immediately go to the kick and take away a little 500 and add a little 63. I’ve always loved the API Legacy console and this plugin replicates it beautifully. It sounds like I’m in D!”
- Steve Marcantonio, GRAMMY-winning Producer and Recording Engineer

“It’s absolutely gorgeous sounding. The first plugin, in my opinion, to nail the proper API sound.”
-Joseph J. Chudyk, Multi-Platinum Mixer (IDK, Kane Brown, The Band CAMINO)

The BB A5 plug-in will also be added to KIT’s Blackbird Studio Bundle which includes the 7-band BB Mo-Q (used in Martina McBride’s vocal chain), the award-winning BB N105 channel strip plug-in and the BB N73 their recently released 1073 emulation. “Onoleigh is a born performer…her connection with her audience is genuine, soulful, and authentic. Then there’s that knock your socks off, big-time voice of hers that she delivers with emotional energy and range. She’s got it all.” - John Oates of Hall & Oates.

“Working with Onoleigh has been amazing, she’s continually honing her craft between the writing and delivery of her songs, and I’m excited for the world to hear.” - David Dorn, Producer

“Onoleigh’s voice is something all its own... I heard something so unique, but still familiar the very first time I heard her sing.” - Brandon Hood, Producer

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (July 21, 2023) - Singer-songwriter Onoleigh is announcing new single “Why Can’t We Dance,” set for release on August 18th. “Why Can’t We Dance” was co-written by Onoleigh and Jonathan Wyndham, and produced by 4X ACM Award nominee David Dorn. The fierce, up-tempo song is a roaring dance-floor anthem about embracing the rush of a feel-good time over wanting to be in love. “Why Can’t We Dance” follows Onoleigh’s previously-released songs “Beautifully Broken” co-written with Brandon Hood, and “Make It Hurt,” the latter written by Maren Morris, Rhett Akins and Chris DeStefano.

“So many songs revolve around the concept of someone completing you, so when we wrote this song, it was important to me to share a different perspective, one where you’re able to go out and have a great time without any long term expectations for love,” said Onoleigh.

Onoleigh teased her new single “Why Can’t We Dance” on Instagram earlier today (HERE), adding, “It’s a summer anthem about not wanting to be in love. We have some amazing elements that come with this song including a music video that we’re shooting this week.”

Onoleigh has collaborated with some of the biggest names in music including co-writing songs with John Oates (Hall & Oates), Nathan Chapman (Taylor Swift) and working with Producer Brandon Hood (Sam Hunt, Rascal Flatts, Hannah Dasher).

With a remarkable ability to harness compassion and empathy as a result of her previous experience in social work as a guidance counselor, Onoleigh’s songwriting has reached listeners on a powerful personal level with songs that are relatable and lean into what others are feeling. Since her debut release “Ghost Stories,” which garnered over 20,000 streams across platforms in less than a month, her songs have been featured by CMT, Music Row, Taste Of Country, and more. Most recently, her song “Sunshine & Lemonade” co-written with Oates, was included in the soundtrack for the movie “Gringa,” which was released earlier this year.

The rising singer-songwriter was raised in Mahomet, IL and made the move to Nashville to pursue her career in music. She frequently performs in notable venues including The Bluebird Cafe, Ole Red, the Bobby Hotel, and she has a standing residency at the Virgin Hotel. Onoleigh has opened for artists including Jordan Davis, Tyler Rich, Joe Nichols, Rodney Atkins, and she is set to share the stage with Chris Janson this summer. The 1073 is one of the most iconic channels in recorded music history and has played a critical role in shaping music’s sound since the 1970s. Popularized for its identifiable analog character and simple eloquent controls, the 1073 is known for its’ fat, warm, colorful tones, and has been used to create some of the greatest chart-topping albums by some of the most-well known artists in history.

Featured by Forbes (HERE) and named in Mix Magazine’s list of pro audio companies to watch in 2023, KIT Plugins has helped countless producers, engineers and creatives enhance their sound with their “revolutionary new software” (American Songwriter).

For the BB N73, KIT’s team of engineers worked closely with Blackbird Studio Owner John McBride and the Blackbird team to capture the best characteristics from twelve vintage 1073 units, in use at Blackbird Studio and hand-selected by McBride. Incorporating McBride’s favorite characteristics, each 1073 was analyzed to ensure every audible detail was accounted for, capturing the essence of all of them, including everything from cables and modifications to age and irregularities.

“Building the BB N73 has been one of our biggest projects yet. With other entries in the space, it needed to be special. As a user of many different 1073 plug-ins, I always found the models to be more reminiscent of a brand new unit than a vintage one, and I wanted to fill that niche with Blackbird Studio. We analyzed every vintage 1073 at Blackbird Studio and selected twelve of the best units. John and I then selected our favorite aspects of each unit so our development team could build what we believe is the perfect vintage style 73 channel,” shared Matt Kleinman, Founder, KIT Plugins.

“Like many, I gravitated towards the 1073 early in my career, for its unique sound, saturation and tonal capabilities. The BB N73 brings everything I love about the original unit to life in your computer, from the legendary preamp and EQ to the iconic big red knob,” he added.

YouTube Influencer David Vignola (Home Recording Made Easy) revealed a full demonstration, view it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DnFjSxAr8mE.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Oct. 17, 2022) - Nashville spoken word and hip-hop artists Rashad thaPoet Rayford, Saran ‘S-Wrap’ Thompson and producer trio The Varsity (Adrian Taylor, Kyle Hicks and Michael B. Hicks) are releasing the music video for “New Day,” the current single from their recently released spoken word poetry album The Other Side Too today.

“New Day” ushers in a poignant reminder that every day is an opportunity for a fresh start. The music video was directed by Jasmin “Shubey” Shuler and was filmed at multiple locations in North Nashville including the Jefferson Street Sound Museum (JSSM). The video celebrates Nashville's African American arts and culture, Jefferson Street’s historic legacy in music and showcases a mural by Artist Sir Joshua Black. The Other Side Too follows the release of their spoken word poetry album The Other Side, lauded by the Nashville Scene as “an interconnected collection of uplifting pieces about a journey to finding peace and purpose, built atop a musical foundation of psychedelic soul.” The Other Side was part of a larger movement (100 Griots Movement) led by Recording Academy leaders and fellow spoken word poets to rally 100 submissions in order to split the Best Spoken Word Album category, and distinguish true spoken word projects from projects dedicated solely to audio book and/or narration. The last true-to-form spoken word poet to win the category was nearly 30 years ago.

With much success, this year marks the first-ever award for Best Spoken Word Poetry Album, which honors excellence and spoken word albums, specific to the performance of poetry with or without music, a category formerly dominated by audio books. Read more (HERE).

S-Wrap and Rashad thaPoet spoke in depth with Magnetic Magazine about the influence of spoken word poetry, and their collaboration with producer trio The Varsity, read more here: https://www.magneticmag.com/2022/10/how-to-write-spoken-word-for-music-production/
